Agile Robots is an anchor-customer for Europe's first Industrial AI Cloud

Agile Robots is an anchor-customer of the new Industrial AI Cloud from Deutsche Telekom and NVIDIA. The platform is Europe's first cloud infrastructure specifically designed for industrial artificial intelligence and aims to secure sovereign computing power for Europe while strengthening Germany’s industrial competitiveness. The Cloud was officially launched today in Berlin, with, among others, Dr. Karsten Wildberger, the Federal Minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernization, in attendance.
"The Industrial AI Cloud gives us the computing power we need to train our foundation model for the next generation of intelligent robotics using European infrastructure” said Zhaopeng Chen, Founder and CEO of Agile Robots. “This is an important step for us and for German industrial competitiveness. Now is the time to bring together AI, robotics, and industrial know-how to make industrial production faster, more efficient and more scalable.”
Smart manufacturing combines AI, robotics, and industrial know-how
Agile Robots is a global leader in intelligent robotic solutions – combining AI, robotics, and manufacturing expertise. The company’s focus is not individual robots but complete smart manufacturing systems where each element is intelligent, interlinked and continuously learning. The company’s hardware portfolio includes robotic arms, mobile platforms and the world's leading robotic Agile Hand. All of these products are designed to work as part of an integrated solution – coordinated by our own AI robotic foundation models and controlled via the proprietary AgileCore software.
Unlike traditional industrial robots, which must be reprogrammed for each new task, Agile Robots' AI-driven products learn through extensive training data. That means that a robot can be trained for new tasks in hours instead of weeks. Agile Robots works with a pre-trained, versatile AI foundation model that can be quickly and cost-effectively adapted to specialized AI applications for individual work environments and tasks.
Real data provides a competitive
advantage
While many competitors rely solely on synthetic or generic data, Agile Robots also trains its AI models with real data from its own manufacturing. Combining real industrial data with simulated and human-generated data enables robots to rapidly adapt to new tasks, and to execute them with high precision. Since its founding as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the company has developed, designed and manufactured nearly all its products in-house. As a result, it has developed a valuable repository of data that has proved to be a strategic advantage. The Agile Robots team also profits from experience gained from over 20,000 robotic solutions installed worldwide across a broad range of industries, particularly in automotive and consumer electronics.
Munich serves as central hub
Agile Robots’ Munich headquarters serves as the company’s research and development (R&D) center, and the central hub for its industry-leading team of over 1,000 robotics and AI experts. The company, founded in 2018, employs more than 2,500 people from 60 countries. It has doubled its revenues year on year since its founding, reaching around 200 million euros in 2024. Last year, Agile Robots invested over 80 million euros in R&D in Germany alone. The company recently expanded its laboratory space in Munich to 10,000 square meters.
Long-term partnership with NVIDIA and Deutsche Telekom
Agile Robots and NVIDIA have collaborated for many years. The partnership, which began by integrating Omniverse libraries and open simulation frameworks for robot development, is now being taken to a new level with the Industrial AI Cloud.
"Artificial intelligence is the backbone of the next industrial revolution. The strength of Europe and Germany will be determined by whether we design the necessary infrastructure and measures ourselves. With the Industrial AI Cloud, we have reached a milestone today – together with our partners and first customers – for a sovereign future,” says Ferri Abolhassan, Board member of Deutsche Telekom AG for T-Systems and CEO of T-Systems International GmbH.
