Munich, 04.06.2025 – Agile Robots, a leading provider of AI-powered automation solutions, is marking a major milestone in innovation and growth with the grand opening of its new global headquarters in Munich’s Sendling district. From its Munich base, the company develops advanced, AI-equipped industrial and research robots that are deployed worldwide. Agile Robots is experiencing rapid growth: over the past four years, the company has doubled its revenue each year, reaching 200 million euros most recently.

The global robotics market is projected to grow by more than 20 percent annually, reaching over US-$180 billion by 2030. A key driver of this growth is the increasing “physical intelligence” of robots—their ability to learn and interact effectively with the physical world. In this area, Agile Robots is recognized as a global leader.

"Our technologies are instrumental in driving the industrial transformation. We have already delivered over 10,000 automation solutions for global industry leaders - from consumer electronics to the automotive sector. ‘Made in Bavaria’ stands for both our innovative strength and our commitment to the highest quality,” emphasizes Dr. Zhaopeng Chen, founder and CEO of Agile Robots. The company is a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and benefits from Munich's outstanding research and innovation environment. "Our company's origins in Bavaria and our affiliation with this ecosystem have been pivotal to our success. Our location also makes us especially attractive to international talent," Chen adds.

Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder MdL also commented on the significance of Agile Robots for the state: “A perfect match: the robots of tomorrow are being created here in state-of-the-art research facilities - made in Bavaria. Bavaria is the number one technology location and our high-tech agenda is a role model for all of Germany: with six billion euros, we invest more than any other federal state in modern key technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics and aerospace and offer a unique tech ecosystem for start-ups, scientists and companies. It is no coincidence that most start-ups in Germany are founded in Bavaria. This is the economic policy of the future and a huge opportunity for Bavaria. Good luck to Agile Robots! May the force be with you!”

Agile Robots is deeply committed to fostering close collaboration between research and industry, strengthening Bavaria’s position as an innovation hub and advancing Germany’s industrial competitiveness. The company invests over 80 million euros each year in research and development in Germany.

"Agile Robots demonstrates the symbiotic relationship between research and industry in terms of innovation. As a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center, Agile Robots is part of an ecosystem that develops robotic technologies and brings them into real-world application. The company's success story highlights the significant potential of Germany as a center for innovation," explains Prof. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla, CEO of the DLR.

Agile Robots employs more than 2,300 people worldwide and boasts one of the largest research and development teams in the industry. With manufacturing facilities in Europe, China, and India, Agile Robots is globally connected. This international focus enables the Munich-based company to deliver cutting-edge German technology around the world and meet the demands of global markets.
