Senior Systems Engineer

Senior Systems Engineer (m/f/d)

You will be a member of the systems engineering team, which provides an overall system view and ensures that the product is coherent, well designed to meet system objectives and documented at the system level. The systems team works closely with other teams across multiple domains.
The primary focus of your role will be our collaborative robot arm and its mechatronic accessories. Additionally, you will work with the functional safety, application software and integration teams to define a suitable, safe and compatible architecture for our complete robotic system products.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Define, plan, and monitor systems engineering strategies and tools
  • Work closely with domain experts (e.g. R&D, engineering, functional safety, security, product management, and verification)
  • Support the definition of core product goals and capabilities
  • Define requirements through eliciting inputs from customers, standards and regulations, and company internal know-how
  • Create a solid base for supporting certification to collaborative robot standards
  • Implement a suitable model-based systems engineering (MBSE) process
  • Derive system architectures and define component decompositions and interfaces from system level requirements
  • Ensure requirement traceability throughout the product development cycle (V-model)
  • Define requirements through eliciting inputs from customers, standards and regulations, and company internal know-how
  • Derive system architectures and define component decompositions and interfaces from system level requirements
  • Support the definition of core product goals and capabilities
  • Work closely with domain experts (e.g. R&D, engineering, functional safety, security, product management, and verification)
  • Support software integration, as well as test and validation
  • Support quality management, configuration management, and risk management

Essential Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent in mechatronics, electrical, robotics, computer science, or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience in requirements analysis and system architectural design, preferably in a mechatronics field
  • Sound knowledge of best practices in model-based systems engineering
  • General knowledge of agile philosophy and modern product development process methodologies
  • System-oriented thinking and structured working approach
  • Familiarity with modelling languages (UML, SysML) and MBSE tools
  • Ability to pursue information across team boundaries with excellent communication skills, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and business level stakeholders

  • Good written and spoken English mandatory. German & Chinese are a plus.

Beneficial Skills:

  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards in robotics and industrial automation, especially for safety (e.g. ISO 10218-1/2, ISO 13849, ISO/TS 15066, IEC 62061/61508)
