Functional Safety Engineer (m/f/d)
You will be a member of the functional safety team whose task is to understand and analyse the certification requirements for a wide variety of robotic based system products up to and including collaborative industrial and medical solutions.
Your Responsibilities:
- Carry out all necessary safety assessments and in conjunction with the other engineering functions you will create safety concepts and subsequent requirements for inclusion into system baselines
- Create and maintain a number of safety cases and interact at all times with relevant external authorities
- Contribute to internal change control boards and also be asked to provide supporting material and arguments for external customers
- Develop and document the safety concept for our collaborative robot systems and advanced robotics software functions
- Support specification and documentation of architecture at system, hardware, and software levels
- Support the development of processes that comply with relevant functional safety norms
- Collaborate with concept and product development teams to integrate functional safety early in the design process
- Support the development, evaluation, and testing of safety relevant functions
- Coordinate assessments from external certification authorities
- Perform risk assessments and implement measures to ensure safety in testing and evaluation of prototypes and product
Essential Skills:
- Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Informatics, or a related technical field
- At least three years of experience with functional safety in industrial robotics, collaborative robotics experience desirable
- Sound knowledge of the safety standards for machines (e.g. ISO 10218, ISO 13849, ISO/TS 15066) and of the machinery directive
- Experience with creation and review of safety relevant system and SW architectures
- Experience in working with external certification authorities, such as TÜV
- Familiarity with quality management, configuration management, and product lifecycle
- Motivation to collaborate and take on diverse responsibilities
- Fluency in English, a good command of German is desirable
